The CT Dog Support Unit (CT DSU) uses highly trained police dogs to support CTSFO during operations. CT DSU is used to search people and vehicles for illegal items such as drugs or weapons, track and stop suspects who try to run, and help officers keep control of situations. Police dogs can also be used to threaten or pressure suspects during questioning without causing harm. Overall, CT DSU helps officers work more safely and adds a higher level of realism to operations.
DSU is optional within CTSFO and is available to officers ranked CT Sergeant +. To become CT DSU, you must complete Dog Support Unit training with an ERPT mentor. Once training is finished and you have read all DSU roleplay rules, contact a member of CTSFO Command to have the role added. You may use the weapons available to your CTSFO rank.
While acting as CTSFO DSU, the following rules must be followed:
DSU is only to be used during operations unless authorised by CT/SCO Command this applies for Sergeant's only.
Must have the dog out at all times.
DSU is for Sergeant+ only.
Do not abuse the dog by using it against people with firearms or against other police officers.
Do not take the dog out while already in an active situation.
The dog may be used during interrogations to threaten a suspect, but it must not cause harm.
All rules and guidelines on the ERPT Hub must be followed at all times.
Failure to follow these rules may result in your DSU being removed.
Officers ranked CT Inspector and above may use DSU uniforms and perks at all times without needing authorisation from CT/SCO Command.
When using DSU, you must always give your dog a realistic name, such as Thomas, Bob, Max, Mazie, or Alex. This improves roleplay and realism, as police dogs are named in real life.
DSU can be used in many ways during operations, including searching people and vehicles for illegal items such as drugs or firearms. The dog may also be used to stop suspects who are fleeing. The suspect must not have a firearm out, the dog may only be used on unarmed suspects or those carrying a bladed or offensive weapons.
“This is your last chance. Talk now, or the dog will attack/bite.”
The dog is not released and does not attack. It is only used to intimidate and provoke fear during questioning. If the suspect still refuses, officers must continue using normal RP methods.
